Webmaster Help

I'll be the first to admit that I've broken this rule from time to
time, but it's one that you really shouldn't overlook. Running the
spellchecker on your websites and all online documents is always a
good idea. No matter how great your content, images, and layout, a
few misspelled words will leave your visitors with a very negative
first impression. Typos can also land you in hot water! In addition
to running the spellchecker, be sure to re-read your new documents.
Remember that the spellchecker only finds words that are not right,
it however doesn't find words that are spelled right, but not used
right. If you commonly type one word, or are thinking of a word in
the process of typing, you may accidentally add that correct word
to your document but in the wrong spot. If you're a great designer,
but horrible with grammar, don't be afraid to have someone else on
board to take a look at your work. Most of the sites I do are put
online only after someone else reads, re-reads, and then suggests
grammatical changes for me. I'm a mathematical type, an my skills
with English are not always the greatest, but I am not afraid to
admit it. Don't be pigheaded! Why waste hundreds of hours of work
only to leave a bad impression because you were too stubborn to ask
someone else to take a look at your work. I know that the web isn't
always that technical, and many people have a writing style that
is all their own, but that doesn't always leave a great impression.
Websites that are going to be viewed by the masses, and don't list
a specific person behind them should always be written to the best
technical standards possible. Don't slack off.

3 Smoking Sales letter Secrets!
by Larry Dotson
1) You could add special offers in your ad copy.
It's usually easier to sell the offer than the product.
You could use discounts, free bonuses, volume
sales, etc. For example, you could say, "You'll get
5 bonuses when you order by Aug 24, 2002!"
Another example, "Buy one, get the second one
half price off."
2) You should eliminate the hard-to-understand
jargon on your ad copy. Unless your product calls
for technical words, you want your ad to be read
without people pulling out a dictionary. If you need
to use a word your target audience might not under-
stand, define it or use an example to help them
understand it.
3) You could add proof of results in your ad copy.
You should include testimonials, endorsements and
factual statistics to prove your product's claims. You
should only publish statements that are believable
and have specific results. For example, here is a
good line from a testimonial, "I increased my sales
by 678%!"

Marketing Tip
=============
By all means, check out the competition! If you're offering a brand
new product that you know has existing competitors, you had better
know what you're up against. Don't be cheap! If you are charging a
monthly fee of around $20.00 a month, you had better be willing to
spend at least that much to check out the competitors. Now I am not
going to recommend that you copy what a competitor is doing, but if
you see something that they do better than you, it might just make
you want to think about modifying your system a little. If you are
spying on the competition and find a serious flaw in their system,
be sure to highlight that in your sales letter. I don't recommend
that you name the competition, or bash them in any way, but with a
little creative wording you might be able to make it seem like the
feature that you have is extremely important. Remember that in any
market with competitors, they're going to be spying on you so you
might as well be doing the same thing. Why give them the advantage?
I've probably spent a few hundred dollars on my spying missions in
the past and I can tell you that I don't miss that money one slight
bit. All the money I've spent has gone towards making an improved
product for my clients, and towards drawing new clients away from
the competition. For example, if you are selling an ebook and you
know that another in the same category is only 28 pages long, use
that to your advantage. Be sure that you mention that your book is
not something you could sit down and write in a day, but a hundred
plus page long true teaching guide ( unlike the competition ). A
simple tip, but one of the most powerful out there.
